This is about 13 masked Multiply layers with a tiny bit of coloring added and a few color corrections... I am sure yours will look a lot better using your high resolution copy which is not so pixelated as this sample....
Yep, a lot can be done here. I won't put any time into it as the JPEG-compression makes it impossible to get a nice result.
If you scan to a lossless format (like TIFF or PNG), in 16 bits per channel (48 bit), and make sure no colors are clipping, then A LOT more can be done. So if you sent the original to a professional company I'm sure they will give you good results.

I'm trying to restore the color in this photo, I have tried to get it back with the curves adjustment technique. Which is to take the white eye dropper and find the whitest white and then find the blackest black. This helps a lot with the tone but I still don't get any color in the back...
