Remove these stains?

Hello,

This time i have a different problem. I do not know how to remove these particular stains on the lower right side of the image.

The image was originally smaller, it's the stains i'm worried about.

Convert to B&W first colour staining now invisible. If you want to add a sepia look then using PS default actions apply Sepia. Adjust Hue and Sat and you will be back to how your presented image looks, minus stains

I have tried that and it didn't work.
Thank you for the suggestion, anyway.

I have highlighted the problematic area on the image.

I guess the data is missing on this part of the image and that can't be fixed?

Hi Xiom - The variation of color, saturation, and luminosity are so subtle in this area I can't help think that we are not seeing the entire picture. I think more details of you issue and an image that shows the issue would be needed for forum members to give better recommendations. Just a suggestion.

As you said 'stains' I thought you were talking about the slight colour and luminosity changes in the gentleman's jacket.

It seems that you may now be referring to what you see as a loss of detail in the shelving behind. If that is correct and you copied the original (scan or DSLR) which looks like it may have been a book illustration can you see detail on the original that you cannot in your version?

Under the circumstances your image is not bad at all. What little data remains in the dark area is poor and IMO of little worth. However you may want to try masking the area and apply gentle curves to try and tease out a little detail.

TBH the background is of far less importance than the main subject therefore I suspect you will not actually add much to this image due to the poor quality of the original

I have done that, there has been barely (if any) improvement.
