  • Blue tinge around the mouth

A friend on flickr has now sorted the problem for me.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

I have tinted this old photograph of my mother, but I cannot get rid of a blue tinge round her mouth, I have tried everything! Advice or help would be much appreciated.

On second thoughts the photo I have uploaded is very small (I think I have got something wrong). I shall post a larger size to flickr, and then leave a link here....

Here is a bigger version of the pic, showing the problem...

And here is a more muted version, which is the only way I can think of making the issue a bit better....

And herewith another version, with more work put in. Am not sure whether is is vaguely passable, or still too blue in the mouth....

Re: Blue tinge around the mouth

I just selected a color next to where I wanted to change the color and painted on a new normal layer @ about 13% opacity over the blue on the teeth and eyes, ..... a bit of shadow/highlight adjustment, .... then selectively used some noise removal.

You can post fairly large pictures which are under 100k using the 'save for web' function in Photoshop as described here:

        Hi OlBaldy,

Thank you for responding to this! That is an improvement....

In fact a flickr pal, fed up with my whinging about this pic, and sending her my various edits, finally did an edit for me, which I have now posted on my main flickr account.....

This pic was taken when she was working in a laboratory, in about 1959. I cannot tell you how difficult it was to work on! My thanks go to flickr pal Room for very kindly helping me out with the last (& totally maddening) step of the process.

I did use the save for web function when uploading, but I still seem to be doing something wrong :-(
