  • Restoration and retouching comic book

    Hello everybody,

I need your help please, can someone help me with my retouching?
I'm going to sell a comic to a flea market but my friend convinced me to keep a digital copy for personal reading.
Like that I could have a look to it on my tablet or computer.

but the pictures need a good restoration or retouching i think.

I try to make it more net, to depixelate it a bit and maybe to enlarge it a little too.

If somebody have the time and the patience, I shall like that you help me.

For example, do you think if it's possible to improve this?

      Hi Anthony23,

Unfortunately I can't see the image on your link.

But here is some advice anyway!

      When you scan:
      - disable any automatic retouching
      - scan at least 600dpi
      - 16Bits
      - save as a TIFF or PNG

These settings will give you all the quality you need to retouch/restore ready for viewing on tablet and computer.

Without seeing the image, I cannot give advice on how to tackle the retouch/restore itself.

      Good luck!

Hi and thanks for answer : )

If you have a problem with Mega, maybe try to click on "download through your browser" (there is no risk, don't worry).

Someone said the same thing to me, But for the moment I think I'll try the restoration, but really thanks for your advice, the next time I would that : )

A senior member of the forum was nice and show me what should look like the page if it's retouch/denoised, like if the quality is improved.
His result is here : http://www.retouchpro.com/gallery/sh...ze/big/cat/500

          Hi Anthony23,

Cool good luck, the result the senior member achieved is great.

The reduce noise filter is a really nice one to help remove that pixelated effect!

I won't say nobody wants to help you. Nobody wants to help you in the way you'd like. At least it looks that way. From the FAQ: (Freely paraphrased) Will you do the job for me? This is an educational site; we'll teach you how, but we won't do the work for you. IF that's your preference, you're out of luck

I don't try to make a debate but I explain a little my intention then, I don't try to play the selfish man by asking free service for help but I just look for a team-mates, I take care of the part of scans and my partner will take care of the edition, that's it.

I would never have asked for help on a public forum if I wasn't sure to absolutely want finish this project.

I have no ego concerning this kind of thing, I just look for somebody volunteer and amical but not to take advantage of his services as you think.
Voilà, sorry I don't try to be offensive but it is just that I don't like too much starting this kind of debate, sometimes it leads to misunderstandings.

                        Could you recommend restoration/retouching books?

I am hoping to build up a collection of books to use for reference and learning for Retouching and Restoration. I have Katrin Eismann's 'Restoration & Retouching', could any one recommend any other books that they have found useful/invaluable/handy etc

                        Many thanks

I picked up the Photoshop restoration and retouching by Katrin Eismann and I'm floored by all the info in here.

It has a lot of stuff I'll never do or have interest in doing (restoration) but the retouching color correction stuff is invaluable to me for what I do!
