    FFT Banding

    Many times when I use the FFT filter I end up with banding across the top and bottom of the photo.

    I usually apply a 1" grey border around the photo before applying the filter, but it just doesn't seem to stop this banding.

    Has anyone experienced this and been able to solve it?

    Applying a border of a minimum 100 pixels all round can help. This type of banding can also occur if you overdo the spotting out of the stars.

      I thought it would be valuable to Mac users to post that there is a free FFT plugin filter for Macs being made available (OSX 10.10.+ on PS CC 2015). Dj Joofa has developed this filter and an early version is available for free if you contact him at [email protected] I did exactly that and...


      Mr Wheeler puts a 15% canvas around the image, then does a content aware fill of the extra canvas before applying the filter. This solved my problem. My canvas fill was grey, but content aware fill has solved the banding.

          I am using cs3 on win xp and trying to repair my old photo. But i have a problem that when i scan this photo the photo paper texture is very visible .then i read about fft filter. But when i download and use it my system hang and not responding....

          Hi,
          Big fan of FFT and it happily does the right thing on my work computer. On my home laptop with CS3, FFT is greyed out under filters.

          I copied and pasted both FFT and IFFT into (through the Adobe Path) Filters. Shut down, restart, open Photoshop...it can see it but it's greyed...
