Because 99% of our images are now digital, and most likely will be stored / viewed / archived electronically on the likes of a CD, DVD, external / internal hard drive, xcetera, what are (or maybe) the new concerns & challenges in the field of image restoration? I know I can go research on Google. BUT I just started a restoration project and this was a thought bubble that popped up while patching cracks on a very damaged image from 1953. Also, I wanted to see what folks on here have to say. I value your opinions,
Like without rips, tears, fading, etc damage, what now (or will) defines the role of the restorer? For the record, I am not talking about "retouching" or the printed digital image. Is this a dying profession?
