Hi All,

I hope you can help me.

I've got a 63 year old photograph that was taken in Norway.

It looks like it's a cardboard with sepia Colour.

I had wrapped it in Faxpaper while moving it for scanning, but somehow

One of the couriers got damp and it's stuck.

Since it's my only photograph of my parents and us sisters , I'm reluctant to

mess with it. I was going to try to steam it before I found this site.

I'm living on a boat in Asia so can't get to shops or find a photographic Centres.

Hi Myndir, my first thought was, since photos were wet when being processed in the first place, you might be able to re-wet it entirely (room temp water) and gently remove the unwanted paper.

Using this wetting technique, I removed 100-year old photos that were rubber-cemented into a family album to try and discover what was written on the backs of many. This did not damage them, though I scanned them first to be safe.

But because of the importance of your image, don't rush to do this before looking into other options though! I'm thinking steaming might cause damage due to the heat involved.

This usually works. The key is room temperature. Sometimes adding a drop of mild detergent helps loosen the paper. Used Kodak's Photoflo in the past, but any dish washing liquid should work - just a drop.

Removed photos stuck to glass this way many times.
