I know I say this often, but why not just hire someone? 100kb image is not something that will replace your memories. I believe even local printers offer restoration services.

A newbie here, I had a go at the first photo too: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5vgxbvg3hw...ke%29.jpg?dl=0

I just found this forum today so this is my first post:
          - cleaned up a few spots and evened up the background
          - added some detail to the left shoulder to match the right one
          - gave lighter parts of the dress a bit more 'color'
          - de-saturated the reddish tint to a B&W 'finish'
          - added a missing tooth

The central part of the photo (face and dress) is in great condition and is pretty much untouched.

Re: A few More pictures in need of assistance

              Hi Nexus

There is a wealth of how to information on this site - I suggest going to the Tutorials tab above as there are a number of tutorials dealing with some of the problems in the photos you have posted - they are under Restoration -start with Restoring an old photo and one on page three dealing with Paper texture as that does not require Neat Image. Also there are tutorials on healing damage without cloning and using the history brush. For newspaper texture I would put that into the search box of this site and you will then be able to access the replies to this particular problem as I cannot find a specific tutorial on that. One technique I found recently that I found useful to reduce a halftone pattern of newspapers was to take the image run the dust and scratches filter setting the radius to 1 and the threshold to 0. Then you invert the resultant image (Invert is under Image Adjustments oruse Control I on a PC)and run the Dust and scratches filter again on the Inverted image setting radius to 1 and threshold to 0 and then Invert that result. It worked particularly well on the image I had. But like everything in Photoshop it can be a bit of trial and error and what works for one image will not work for the next and you may have to try a different technique. Hope that helps.

Just one thing to help the forum... If you use Photoshop you can post fairly large pictures which are under 100k using the 'save for web' function in Photoshop as described in this thread:
(Size, Quality and/or Format your Attached Images..)
The save for web function in the latest Photoshop is hidden under File>Export>Save for web (legacy)

This thread explains (How to attach Files/Images to your Posts or Threads )

If you want to post a larger resolution that is over 100K then you can host your image elsewhere and attach a link in the thread (as you did here but both links are broken...) which is why you should also attach an under 100K version (so the thread remains useful in the future, regardless of external links). (link to the highest resolution.. or the largest size you can upload)

If you become a "Patron" You can attach files up to 1MB to any post, You won't see any ads on the site, There's a private forum just for Patrons, You can display an automatic signature under your posts, Your posts will clearly identify you as a Patron, so everyone knows of your generous support.

Re: A few More pictures in need of assistance

Woman, mostly masked dust & scratch filter, Healing brush & Patch tool for repairs. A bit of sepia tone with a tad of color added.

Computer guy, used Image Analyzer >Filters>Frequency domain filter to get rid of the newspaper dots then a few minor levels adjustments and a pass through Noiseware to smooth things out

Couple, masked Dust & Scratch filter, masked multiply layer to even tones and a pass through Noiseware to smooth things out

                    Hi 0lBaldy,

I'd cleaned up my Dropbox folder assuming people here and at other sites had had plenty of time to view/download photos. I've now restored the links to these photos. Thanks for the info. I've become a patron and I'll upload photos directly from now on.

Completely agree with you and a very good amount of time is required to restore such old photos perfectly.

My girls birthday is in 2 weeks and I need these pictures done by then. I basically want to put her in pictures with all her favorite celebrities and print them out on photo paper and frame them for her. I have about 5 pictures I need done. I need it to look realistic as if the picture was taken...
