  • old wedding photo restoration

This is a restoration job I did on an old wedding photo of my great grandparents circa late 1800's

I used Affinity Photo and I'm quite pleased with the results except I might tweak the rebuilt shoulder On Great Grandma.

I used the inpainting brush and clone brush to remove the cracks and tears then used a curves adjustment. I masked them out of the original background and picked colours from the original back ground to recreate a new background.

I'd love to hear some thoughts on my restoration

I would lighten the corner of her eye. It looks too dark.
You did a nice job on the picture.

Thank you cupcake, I thought the eye looked a little dark too so I worked on it a little more. I also worked her shoulder and face some more and straightened them a bit more.

If the photograph is heavily damaged, very old, or extremely delicate, consider having the photo professionally restored. Professionals can not only restore photographs that have been ripped, stained, or damaged by water or sunlight, but they can also digitally enhance the photo's overall quality and color. With several experts working on each image, high-end photo restoration isn't a cheap option, but it's worth it. I tried to do this alone at home, but I couldn't, so I turned to a gentleman's guru who did a great job.

This is the only surviving photo from my soon-to-be in-laws' wedding. I have tried playing with it, but I just can't seem to get any good results. I'm using photoshop cs3 and would VERY much appreciate any advice!...

            Hi All,
This is the only surviving photo of Mom & Dads wedding. I have had several attempts already but get stuck every time with the fading over the suite on the man on the left. Also none of the noise plug ins take out all the fine scratch marks without destroying too much detail. Any...
