  • Those pesky stains....

How do you get those water stains out of a pic. I have a sepia with several red stains of significant size. Of course you can clone your way to stainlessness but thats not very elegant and certainly labor intensive and it almost always destroys detail.

Isnt there a way to sample the color of the stain then inverse and multiply or difference to eliminate that color?

    Whose got the secret?

Perhaps the Digital Stain Remover tutorial will help?

If the image is a b&w sepia image, it may be a simple matter of choosing the channel (R, G, B) with the least amount of red and most detail otherwise, and using that as your image. Then clean up any remaining damage, then sepia the image again...

      Could you post the image?

(Jeanie, I was thinking of that tutorial, too!)
