Hi Emily
The video you reference is really well made - loved her chatty style and the music. Thank you for loading up the links. I always enjoy looking at different restoration videos and also looking at the RetouchPro site as there are always many different ways of solving the same problem and you can learn so much from them. Couple of things I would add would be to make the clone corrections on a second empty layer above a copy of the original so that if you make a mistake or change your mind you can reverse the correction with a eraser (obviously you cannot do that with the patch tool) but you could use the healing brush as an alternative to the patch tool on an empty layer. I liked her idea of making applying the dust and scratches filter as a smart object as that means its reversible. I don't know if you realise Doug interviewed CTein some years ago before he produced the second edition of his book - he went through a full restoration - it used to be available as a rental - I think the x-rentals are going up on the RetouchPro youbtube channel at some stage.
