    Re: Vogue Style!!

The images seems more to be the result of good lighting, MUA and photographer than an exercise in photoshop.

Its also hard to see with so small images, if anything is done to the skin etc.

have you searched the forums? There are many other threads about retouching.

On the other hand, if you post a photo ( untouched ) Im shure many people will give examples on how to retouch it and explain what they did.

The look like scans from the mag so some amount of 'oomf' is always lost there, but yes they are just 'normal' fashion shots. Without seeing the originals, theres no real way to tell exactly what was retouched - the images could be composites of several images, the model could have terrible skin, the shadows could have been awful but the point of this style of retouch is to make it look 'straight out of the camera' - so if the model really looked like that and if the lighting was all as it was intended to be - this is how it would have looked.

I've studing these kinda shots lately and It's a package of things that plays a important role here...First the the way the model uses her face and eyes is very important! Then the focus on the lens focus should be sharp on the whole model! The way the model is playing an important role as well...

The light isn't the most important thing here...If you have a very light room it should be ok...The whitebalance must be correct! I can see on the second picture that they have used som kind of wind machine! very nice to add dynamics...

Remeber these pictures are not always made by the photographer alone...They usual tend to have a director who is coaching the models on the way to how they should stand, look and use theirs faces...

Hope that this was helpful...if not I have just wasted 5mins of my life

make-up is what makes the skin look like that. there might be retouching here and there, but the make-up is 90% of it. i work with make-up artists that do this kind of work, their rates are around $1000 / day (and i am in texas - in new york it will be more).

the softness is from the light - large sources overhead. either octabox or very large soft box. theres also a hard element in there, probably a dish.

if you're a new photographer, try finding a newcoming make-up artist who will trade for portfolio.

retouching is part of it, but make-up and lighting is a great deal.
