    Welcome here!

Yes, colors are fascinating, and they can do a lot to the general lookand feel of an image.

Some images seems to use a warming filter ( http://hakanphotography.com/series/dream/images/9.jpg ) , or the layer version with a yellow color on a layer set to color and opacity at 50% or so or change blend mode to increase contrast. Also a vignette is used, probably in Burn or Overlay mode as in bottom corners of image.

Some other images seem to be variations on crossprocessing. There is a preset in Curves that you can start with and tweak, or download som Crossprocessing actions. Google it.

Do you have some photos of people outdoors to post here then i will try some retouching for colors, unfortunately i don't have portraits shots outdoors or indoors.

Have you played around with curves and actions in photoshop? There's some great sites around the web with heaps of resources you can download. www.buyouractions.blogspot.com is definitely a favourite of mine, as is the Adobe Photoshop Exchange. You can get some really great retouching pointers by looking through the workflow included in actions made by other retouchers. Just sayin'.

That's the attitude I like and respect!

I'm not into this kind of retouching, but using curves by channel is one way to achieve these tones (and moving the gamma in order to avoid pure white and pure black, thus, "cropping" the histogram). It can be easily done in Lightroom by changing the WB, the split toning and the camera calibration. I found that the Selective Color adjustment layer also does a nice job in this kind of retouching.

                    Hi,

A simple way of getting this sort of effect is using Virtual painter.. the best is to build up the cross/retro effect till the result is satisfying enough.

                    Good luck

Well your concept of modern photography is awesome. Also would say the the backgrounds you have selected are very natural, modern, rough and bright which offers a very good contrasting feature to the people in the in the photo. Amazing art done!
