  • Fill or Opacity, what is the difference?

Hi there, I am new to retouch Pro. I have never known what the difference is between adjusting the fill or opacity sliders on adjustment/ layers. Perhaps I'm blind but they seem to do pretty similar things. Can anyone explain the difference?

Basically opacity controls everything on the layer. Fill controls everything but the layer styles (shadows, stroke, bevel emboss, etc.)

          Fill and Opacity
          by nemrob
Another thing that bugs me that I thought I understood is the difference between Fill and Opacity: Opacity changes the whole layer, and Fill only pixel transparency.
But I've read many years ago that some Blend modes behave differently if you lower the opacity or the fill (sometime referred...

          Opacity VS Flow
          by Syd
This is a question that has vexed me for some time now. When using the brush settings what is the difference between Opacity and Flow? I have yet to see the difference when I swop them around and suspect that they might only apply to a Graphics Tablet. For instance if I use an Opacity of 100 and...

fill or opacity with Color Lookup?
          by anderson234
In some tutorials, after adding Color Lookup layer, they lowered "fill" instead of "opacity". Why? there're no such thing like text in this layer.

          Multiple Exposure
          by jclguru
I've attached the first 3 frames of a photo I'd like to make into a
multiple exposure. The problem is, either I see to much of one
layer and not the others or vice versa.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can go about achieving this?
          Nothing I do looks right....
