I took a photo of my swarovski crystal necklace. I know how to make it bright but there are colorful reflections on the photo that I want to keep while I brighten the colors, what are your suggestions

I want a white background since the one I took on looks grayish

no, what I meant is if you notice, there are reflection on the paper surface of the picture, the shine it gives off onto the surface it's on. The colors like a prism, am I thinking of something impossible? the rainbow colors given off

How's this? Three quick steps (one quicker step if you like brighter jewelry).

1) Mask the Swarovski and jump it to a new layer, normal mode. I just used the background eraser. If you go this route you'll want a neater mask, maybe.

2) Between the background layer and the extracted jewelry, add any adjustment layer. Don't do anything with it but set its blending mode to linear dodge. Color dodge also works. Double-click on the layer bar (not on the thumbnail, eyeball, or label) to bring up the Layer Style dialog box. Near the bottom, choose gray in the 'blend if' drop-down menu. Set the white slider for This Layer to 51/255. That means hold down the option (or alt if you use Windows) key and drag the left half of the white triangle until the numbers over the bar say 51/255.

3) Reduce opacity on the top, jewelry layer until you like the look. I used 39%.

Extracting the necklace and bracelet to make the top layer take the most time. If you like how the image looks using just the color dodge adjustment layer, extraction is not a necessary step and that makes the whole process super quick.

Note that the background is still a little gray, particularly in the upper left corner. You might want to take the shot again to get a more even background. From the playing around I did, I think that if the background goes pure white you'll lose your rainbow reflections.

I see, thank you, that's what I was thinking of. I think I agree about the grey and white background since may be if you don't have a grey the rainbow won't reflect.

this was done sloppily just as a direction, but if you really love the refractions a darker BG might be the way to go.

Masking the reflections is possible but time consuming. I frequency split the image at Radius = 12 then using a Curve Adj layer changed the white point of the darkest gray on the low frequency layer. You can also tweak any channel on that adj layer to tint the final background to a color rather than gray.
