Re: Stanislav Petera DVD
I have the first two masterclasses and found them quite interesting.
They're not too expensive imho, but you really shouldn't expect to learn anything new or fancy if you're the least bit active in this and other forums.
The arrival took a few weeks for me, which was a little annoying, but the support was nice and they immediately told me, when my DVDs were getting shipped.
Also there are some minor problems with the subtitles. Sometimes the translation goes like "Now we're going to take the ??? and then..." (yes, the question marks were really there. Several times).
Made me laugh, but might be confusing to follow.

Re: Stanislav Petera DVD
Hey thanks for the replies.Have checked the thread on MM, but no one bought the DVD and gave a review.I have kinda different experience than you Der W. I have registered, but when i try to login afterwards i get this error message i polish. I tried to contact the people at the contact list but get no reply. Sent one mail a 8 days ago, and one more to days ago. Got no answer. I think that is pretty bad , seems to me like they are not serious. They have the website in english, that`s good, but when the error message is in polish/slovak i`m lost.
But i kinda sucks because i like the dark/bleached look in the pictures( like the girl sitting in the field on a tree and another one i a couch) Im not sure where to begin, So if anyone knows how to, please point me in the right directionLast edited by Rust; 06-25-2011, 03:39 PM.

This page doesn't exist. If you typed the address manually, please check it again.

Thanks creativeretouch! That`s strange that the page doesn`t exist. After i clicked on "registration" on top right at the main page and filled out the adress, name etc, this message comes up.
Maybe the site is just "ghost town".

Maybe he doesn't speak English and that's why don't get an answer to your emails? Either way it's a bit uncool to open yourself to an international target without the means to support it, yet all of this has little to do with the quality of the DVD itself. If you like their PP style, just ask people that have seen it like Der_W over here

Re: Stanislav Petera DVD
You mean this one here: http://www.lightgarden.cz/data/share...jpg/dFull.jpg?
This was the second DVD, I'll just rewatch and tell you some of the process (I can't upload the PSD files as I don't have the rights to do so unfortunately) :-).
So here's what I got:
The sky in the image was replaced with another (darker) RAW conversion.
Now he painted some lights and shadows into the image using dodge & burn.
Then he duplicated the image, changed the mode to CMYK and copied the yellow channel into the blue channel of his original image.
Now he picked the yellow channel from the CMYK duplicate of the image and blended it in "Multiply" mode to the original.
Next the cyan channel in "Soft Light" mode was used for the contrast effect.
This makes the main part of his dark look.
It's recommended to play around with blending channels to see which effect you like the most :-).

Re: Stanislav Petera DVD
thanks Der_W for the steps. I have couple of question:
So have a duplicate of the same picture, like in seperate windows. One version in cmyk and one in RGB(original)?
Do you copy the the yellow channel from the cmyk picture and paste it directly in the blue channel of the RGB version of the picture?
Do you copy the yellow again, this time on to an empty layer in the RGB mode picure and blend multiply after you have copied it and paste it once over the blue channel in the RGB version of the picture?
Do you copy the cyan to an empty layer set to soft light in the RGB version(original)?
Hope you can help

Re: Stanislav Petera DVD
All true :-).
For the first one, create a stamp of the visible layer ([Ctrl]/[Cmd]+[Shift]+[Alt]+[E]) and copy the yellow layer in the blue channel of this layer, for the second and third, yes, exactly like you said :-)!
