  • Photo Colorizing Tutorial

    This is a tutorial for colorizing photos. I ran through the steps and I'm very happy the results.



    Oh, I just remembered. I substituted one of the steps because I could not find a similar tool in Photoshop. For the initial colorizing step, I created a new layer above, set to Color bending mode, and filled it with the color in the tutorial. Then used a feathered and inverted version of the selection (created earlier) to clear the color from where it didn't belong. Then merged down. The result was identical to the tutorial.

I have to admit, I had a really hard time getting the same result as the tutorial, but after playing around with it for a while, I came up with something that is at least passable - I think....

    I took a picture of a Foxglove I have blooming in my yard. Three layers of original copied. Ran the sketch effect on top layer. Overlay hard light over the second layer filtered with smudge stick and set to hard light. Background darkened with curves so much that everything but the flowers was black....
