Of course you need to compensate for the decrease in luminosity the procedure I told you obviously generates. This goes for colors which is what you asked about.
Now a big part of that work is also down to tonemapping/HDR/Lucis type of treatment but this doesn't concern colors.

Hey Ben is just asking for help...if you know the specific answer to his question give it to him...if not then say you don't....just because you read a color book doesn't mean he understands how to achieve this effect. Have a good day...

Another way is to stay in RGB, create a Curves layer and raise both the bottom and the top points of the composite curve (i.e., the main curve, the one you see initially when the curves window pops up -- or of the individual R,G,B channels if you just want to raise the luminosity of a single channel).
