How did they do this (skin/freckles/pores)?

    Hello community of RetouchPro!

I have been recently browsing other retoucher's portfolio's which I loved and I'm wondering how they did some kind of things. I have a few examples. Hope someone is kind to help me, I would appreciate it a lot!

    1) Technique 1

How did the make the freckles pop so much? And how did they achieve the glow of the second picture? Dodge?

    2) Technique 2

How did they make the pores smooth without loosing them? Also again the glowing of the 3rd pictures.

    Thank you so much!!!

I like the first one not a fan of the rest. Man, if I would retouch like this I probably wouldn't get hired much. Looks to me like Frequency Separation blurring the low layer I could be wrong.

      Technique 1:
You might start with blending the individual channels back into the original image. The blue plate in particular, in Luminosity mode, opacity to taste, will usually bring out freckles and other skin details, including imperfections. It will also darken the image overall. Green in Soft Light mode and red in Overlay can combine to produce an enhanced contrast effect not possible with curves. Easily abused. Less is more.

      Technique 2:
If you try anything approaching this on a real job, they'll throw you out on your ass. 'nuff said.

Technique 1: I agree with edgework, only thing I would add is dodge and burn, it will smooth out the shadows and highlights and you won't lose the texture...

Thanks a lot, but I'm not looking to add them myself, but making the original ones pop. Thank you though! Appreciate it.

This is about getting the freckles of the left side of the first link more like those in the second link.

The freckles reside mostly in the blue channel, so use channel mixer in luminosity mode to blend the blue into the red & green channels. Mask to the areas of skin you wish to affect.

It's like some computer generated sandpaper. Tell you what, if you find that attractive, it's your fault entirely if you wake up one morning with fang holes in your neck.

These are done with filters and does not look like quality dodge and burn at all.

I have quite an issue with this kind of skin. How do they make it so smooth and the tone is so light? Channel mixer method didn't work for me to get this kind of skin. Really want to know how to achieve this, cannot find any material on particular these skin tones.

                                Hi guys!
A found this video yesterday when I loodked for a tutorial of skin smoothing.
I think it is one of the best ways of skin smoothing, what is more, it was the technique what I have been looking for for a long time!

There are many cool ways in photoshop or captureone to make a normal even skin looking great. To give the skin a beautiful "crunchy" texture. It doesn't matter if it's in the hard sunlight or in the shadow. I think the technique is the same at the end. And I am...
