    I am looking at: http://500px.com/photo/47044660 and I was wondering how is such a look accomplished.

    There is nothing you can't do with good lighting for each shot and then doing magic with Photoshop, i never believe it is done with 1 shot only, if so then i would like to see the original from the photographer if he is still on earth.

      Also dodge and burn to get control of some shadow and highlights, like on the skin here and choosing a general color scheme. Somewhat cyan here ( or I am colorblind =) ).

        he added some details like the water, mist etc. Would you say that on the background - is that just an overlay?

          it could be that though i t hink it would just be easier to dl some smoke brushes and add that unto a new layer until u find one that u find that works for ur particular image. the image seems like a gradient map was added there and then he focused on lights and darks with d&b on both items and people.
