  • Reverse engineering this style.

    Photo: http://500px.com/photo/5516204

Once I get past the light setup I cant seem to figure it out! I've attempted some Hiraloam, gradient maping, etc. I'm convinced the man is simply a wizard!

    Any suggestions?

Ha, Pretty much! I made some progress with the Hiraloam, kinda. Provided I'm working with a photo with a far different lighting setup.

You do realise that my post referred to the fact that your link is a dead end with a message 'Sorry No Such Page'?

Without even seeing the image I am thinking that you have already identified a major hurdle in that your photograph is far removed from the lighting in the one you are looking at replicating

Doh! Sorry I had a rouge backslash in there link should be AOK now! You got it! I've compensated now and have adopted a random photo on my drive that has similar lighting. From his lighting I can see he has Lights probably soft boxes direct left, and right with one dead center. Power Ratios L:1/1 R:1/1 F:1/2

Funny, you came to the right site. Look at the RetouchProLive part and you will find a show with Glyn Dewis explaining it all himself. http://www.retouchpro.com/index.php?page=gdrentals

I'm still attempting to recreate his styleing but now I am more focused at developing my own personal touch!

Here is the result of coffee (at 11:00pm)! (and procrastination)
