  • How to get yellow/desaturated (?) look?

    Hi everyone,
because this is my first post, I may want to say hello and introduce myself: my name is Kevin and I'm from Germany.

I was looking at the following pictures an wondered how to get this look – especially the landscape picture at the end or the second picture.

The page you are looking for doesn't exist or has been moved.

I'm mostly working in Lightroom 5 and would like die achieve as most of the look as possible without going into Photoshop.

Is there also anything special about the photography?

    /Kevin

I'm not sure which picture you're referring to, but I'd think you could get there using LR's split toning function. You could also do the same using the color curves. Looks like he's adding yellow to the highlights and some purple to the shadows, in conjunction with desaturation.

Hi Flashtones, thanks for you reply!

Let's talk about this picture: http://blog.paulripke.de/wp-content/...1/spiez121.jpg

It looks also like desaturation and some purple in the shadows, right?

        Yup, & creamy (warm) highlights.

Again, in LR either the color curves or split tone.

First of all you have to work on a similar picture.
Belive me its very easy to do, take a look at the highlights... they look yellow.
So colorize the whites more yellow.
This is the way how you have to work. But you have to work on a similar image.
Most of the people work on the wrong files.

            Calvin, thanks for your reply!
Sure, working on a similar type of picture is necessary.
But is there anything special about the pictures (in case of photography) except correct exposure?

Go to curves, pull white point down. Gondola was painted separately.

you can achieve this look using only plugins! For example - Alien Skin Exposure. You can install it's in PS or Lr. It have a lot of presets, exactly for this effect - old film (warm) presets.

                Sorry for my english)

Sorry to strongly disagree! absolutely not, no need for plugins!
