color removal on the reflected image

Hello, When I took this picture of my wife's pendant to prepare for art show, I didn't know I wore the red shirt until I saw this. I tried to remove the red color using the mixer brush, the patch tool, a spot healing brush, a healing brush, a clone stamp tool, etc. but all of my attempts were dissatisfactory.

I could retake the picture again, but I am really interested in fixing this using Photoshop. What would you recommend to achieve this?

Hue& Sat layer set to red then desaturate should do it. Assume that the centre of pendant is neutral as it also has a cast to it?

The only step. Other way round man, desaturate (-100), not +100.

Well you now have a choice of 2 pendants, silver and grey and gold and red . Yes, -100 red and perhaps consider using a H&S adjustment layer rather than the direct Image adjustment menu. This way you could paint on the mask to reveal any areas where a little red needs to be added back e.g. to get the gold look on the metal surround only

klee777, there is absolutely nothing to apologise about.

There is not a single member of this forum that has not struggled with trying to get this or that result at some time and what may be clear to some (with the benefit of experience!) may be a mystery to others not familiar with particular tools. Would have been clearer if I had explained to reduce the saturation to -100 in the first place

After reducing the saturation, in order to remove all grey reflection, I plan to use either a dodge tool, a brush with 5 % opacity, a mixer brush, a patch tool, a spot healing brush, a healing brush or a clone stamp tool, but I know it will be very time consuming.
Do you have any other recommendation I haven't thought?

To change color, use a new layer set to color blending mode, simply pick the color of the gold and paint it in.

I assume you meant to say removed the red not grey reflections? And another assumption that you want to clean up the metal areas surrounding the grey centre of the pendant?

I think the patch and clone tools should work quite satisfactorily on these areas and I would suggest applying them via a new layer. Should you need to just lighten certain aspects the dodge tool works ok and again use it on its own copy of a layer. But you would have a little more control to D&B on a 50% grey layer set to either Overlay or Soft light - paint on the layer with white to lighten and black to darken start with low opacity brush and build up with strokes as required
