  • Do You Guys Used Photo Pos Pro For Image Editing?

I know that Photoshop or GIMP would be the best way to edit images.
Just questioning to know that is there any difference between Photoshop and Photo Pos Pro? What should we suppose to use it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

If you're working with images in practically any field, you're likely to use photoshop. It's just ubiquitous in that way. It's not hard to learn the software though. If you're simply interested in editing photos for yourself, there's no reason you couldn't use gimp. It doesn't handle larger files well, but for a lot of things it's fine. I've never heard of photo pos pro. It's probably some obscure piece of software.

Neither software you suggested, nor Photoshop are editing programs. THEY'RE RETOUCHING TOOLS.

Editing> Lightroom, Capture One, Windows Explorer, Mac Finder
              Retouching> Photoshop, Corel Painter, GIMP

I gotta disagree with the idea that Photoshop is a "retouching tool". It's too restricting a definition. It's kind of like saying pencils are just for pointillism. Sure, it can be used for retouching, but it is a tool that has a whole lot of other uses, and I'd definitely include "editing" as one of those.

Photoshop started off aimed at prepress use, but it's leveraged in practically everything. Lightroom is only a few years old and Capture One came out in the early 2000s. Its first release only worked with the ancient phase one backs (light phase and whatever others were from that time). You are trying too hard to classify things.

No. Photoshop was and is an image editing tool.

Alright Mr. Pedantic. I mentioned that it was an image editing tool. The other note merely related to its early market. As I said it's used in practically everything wherever raster images are involved, not just retouching.

Early market? When Photoshop was young, prepress was dominated by Scitex and maybe a few surviving Crosfield systems.

I am new here and I admit I have been lurking because I have not had much to say yet. I am just starting out with photoshop again after a many year hiatus.

I have a question about album software. I know there are two programs out that are compatible with the Adobe...

Obviously Photoshop costs what it does because of its versality. Yet when I see the work that "Kraellin" does on a daily basis with Paint Shop Pro, I wonder if the disparity in price for Photoshop is justified, unless of course you are a pro.

I happend to run across this link today (12/2011), but apparently Image Processor Pro ver 2 (for Photoshop CS5) has been available since 5/2011. Who knew?

A few people have reported problems with the Image Processor script. Perhaps some of those bugs were fixed in this upgrade.
