Style of Oskar Bakke

Hey guys,

I'm sorry that my first post already is a question,
but I've been reading here for a while and didnt feel like posting anything.

Anyways,
I'm looking for some tipps & tricks to achieve a style similar to Oskar Bakke's.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not looking for any tutorial through the whole process, but I have no idea where to start.

I'm working as media designer here in Germany and we do a lot of car photography and retouching, we actually do great photos, but in a different style and I want to try some new stuff.

I'm pretty turned on by Bakke's color grading, its just awesome.

Would be nice if anyone of you could help me out with some sentences.

I'd be happy to retouch some images for you, and do them the same monotone way he does it, but that doesn't change the fact that it's all about initial capture.

Great angle on a great lens incorporated into a great lighting set up.

Looking at it so much of the post work is painted in. Where you need a certain amount of contour, that will take some time. Noting the name 3DArtist, make sure you output a matte or alpha for each material and each named piece of geometry. He has a before/after gif on his blog right now. It should give you some idea. In my opinion whoever is doing the work has a pretty distinct idea what direction they're going. To approximate the style I would start out by picking out my favorite pieces of reference, displaying them on a secondary display, and refer to them while I work. Start with the main car. Go from there. Some pieces should be evident. There are a couple photos where shadows of various background objects go almost black. I just don't think I would conceptually arrive at the same place.
