Is it possible to get a fashion/editorial look

With either of these photos? I'm a bit disappointed as I seemed to have missed focus. It was yesterday and I believe I was shooting at a fast enough shutter speed for my focal length (1/125 at 91mm) but I must have not locked on.

Anyhow, is it possible to achieve a nice fashion/editorial look through frequency seperation and PWL? I have been trying and am not getting very far. I would like to retain texture as well as even skin tone/color.

Can anyone show me a couple quick examples of how these would look retouched properly? Consider them free photos for you guys to play with.

That image is terrible compared to some of the others you have posted in your stream. It's not just the focus. The composition is just vastly inferior to the others, and I'm surprised you don't see it. Where you desaturated the image, you eliminated a portion of the distraction that is caused by the very saturated yellow green tones in the foilage, but you still have leaves cutting across her forehead and a lot of distracting background elements interfering with your subject in general. I don't think this has anything to do with frequency separation. That never dictates the potential of the image. Some of the others are still a bit heavy handed on the work for my taste, but the compositions are much better. As for shutter speeds, you can still end up with camera shake at that speed. You have to be careful.

Good editing isn't just about photoshop, it's also knowing when to throw away an image.

So this image is absolute garbage? It certainly isn't my best work, but it is something different and I thought I'd see what could come of it.

2484 seems like the strongest out of that set.

The interior shots would have benefited from some fill light on the shadows.
The same could be applied to some of the outdoor shots where the back-lighting was strong (2899, 2449, 3227)
Framing the subject could use work - what you do is at your discretion, but consider tighter close-ups; eye contact with camera to model, or have model look at herself (down her shoulder, etc) - for the half-body shots, go for a more intimate look...
Some of the shots give the impression that the model was posing for someone else and you were an incidental photographer capturing the session...

Lastly, I do not make assumptions about your skill level, but I would suggest perhaps some reference resources like this:

Even as a seasoned photographer, it never hurts to revisit the basics.
