    Market? There is no market. We all do this for free.

      Re: Market for Retoucher

      People are working and earn money doing retouch work in many countries.. Like yesterday i read some where on internet.. Retoucher are getting good salary in USA and many other countries. They hired by big or small both Ad agency and post-production house. Can a retoucher get a regular job or not?

                First, you would need a site or join a forum like Modelmayhem.com to show off your work. You have to include large size pictures for people to be able see your work.

                It is best if you work for actual retouch house. On the net, you are competing with the likes of Indians, Thai, Chinese, Russians, etc, etc they all charge very ridiculously low amount of money, from 10 Cent a picture to 2 or 3 dollars! It is not bad as learning experience. However, to get big name retouch houses and photographers, the days of the net as a springboard are long gone! Everyone that has an illegal copy of photoshop and know how to use the Gaussian Blur command, calls himself a retoucher!

                Do you have any before and after to show us your work? The fine folks here will let you know if you even have a chance, just post some before and after, then, I will post where to go and how to get started! Getting to where you want to be, is another story!

                  @Aladdin

                  That's what I was afraid of when I started out, and had no idea what I was doing, but it's clear now that no Indian, Russian, Chinese or whoever will charge 5$ to do a perfect beauty retouch, or a perfect hair campaign, or a perfect composite... Why? Because they are not crazy, or stupid.

                  What you get for 5$ is worth 5$.

I am keen to learn new applications and broaden my field of expertise. I am looking at moving into the advertising world. Has anyone got...

                    I have an idea for how a certification process might actually work for retouchers. But the question is: would anyone care?
