Hi, I've always been amazed at the pp in these pictures, I know they are simple but there's a softness or texture in it that I'd like to emulate but no idea how exactly. I know this has much to do with lighting and shallow dof... (looks like natural window light)

My guess is mostly about gradient maps and texture... ?

It's many steps, if you can at least divide it into direct questions, we'll be glad to help.

Cloning, healing, DNB, curves, masking...

That grain is sampled from another file and added as a soft light or linear light layer, for example.

i don't think that pp. It's more about lighting to get painterly look.

No, it isn't. Painterly look is that way because it's painted.
