Re: Impact digital interview
That part is also there to accommodate the hype. We do everything back and forth, and cut and paste elements including faces, change colors... in no particular order.
Correction: in order the client tells you to.

Re: Impact digital interview
Well if you build an impression you always use a certain workflow, no matter the client it looks good but I'm always amazed how much of a secrecy people make from this particular subject. I mean you could watch a colorist grading a movie with full before and after (whcih does look hella different in the end), vfx breakdowns, CGI, all sorts of stuff. But the very best "behind the scenes" of real (and I mean real) hi-end retouching people get to see is the machine used for digital capture with capture one running.

Re: Impact digital interview
Ok, this is for every element, often things are borrowed, replaced and merged.
Develop digital positive.
Fix everything that needs to be fixed globally and locally on actual pixels.
Make adjustments layers and mask them out.
I don't think there is a secret to it? There are many video tutorials explaining these things.

Re: Impact digital interview
Yeah you could say that. But I guess my point is people believe there is some sort of magic trick which in turn creates "the vogue look", a classified set of adjustments tailored to achieve the holy grail. A mere amount of "how to get that vogue look" threads supports this theory

Re: Impact digital interview
What the heck was that? Who is doing this "interview"? And, not only a "visual director" (hello. That's a new title), but, three of them? Must get interesting when they all "direct" into different directions.
If I was asking a question, I'd want to know why they go through retouchers like fast food meals. They advertise on Craig's every few months for new people. Must be a lovely place to work in.
