Use black and white adjustment layer

but is there a tutorial video where can i see how use the red or the blue or the green channel to work for my black and white

Hi

can i create a black and white using & take advantage of channels red,green,blue ?

in short i would like to make a black and white and take advantage of my red channel and green channel and blue

i tried without luck

what i did
1) load an image
2) channel palete -> copy my red , green and blue channels
3) add a channel mixer monocrome-> apply image ->layer channel(channel mixer) ->channel red copy
4) add another 2 channel mixers monocrome with green and blue masks

in short i have
1) the original image
2) adjustament layer channel mixer + red copy mask
3) adjustament layer channel mixer+ green copy mask
4) adjustament layer channel mixer + blue copy mask

but the image is still not black and white


sorry for my poor english but i would create a black and white take advantage of my red channel and green channel and blue , using my red ,green and blue like masks

what's wrong?
is there a way?
i tried to find a video on you tube without luck
