  • retouching issue\ bad quality

    Hello to all!

I have big issue regarding a photo that I recently retouched.
There are some lines and colour damage appearing on the mid tones and shadows.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
    Please see the photos attached.

    Thank you!

    Re: retouching issue\ bad quality

    Hi Moksha
It is very difficult to know how the defects were created without understanding your workflow and what tools were used and how. It is also not easy as the images are highly compressed JPEGs to fit on this sight which makes seeing subtle differences almost impossible.

It might help to post higher quality versions of your images on a photo hosting site for better analysis of the issues.

Without that I am only guessing. Did you make sure you were editing in 16 bit mode even if you brought the image in as 8 bit mode. Problems can be created if extreme edits are done such as pushing the shadows darker and then trying to bring them back.

As far as repairs, to be honest, I think it would be easier to start from the original and if the problem arises, get help with the specifics of when the problem occurs and not was down the line of the work.

Just my opinion and hope it helps.

Hi John Wheeler, thank you for your reply. I found the problem and its definitely the reason that I was retouching the image in 8 Bits channel.

      Thanks again!

Use Healing brush, and after each step Fade Healing Brush about 30%-60% (Edit > Fade)
Another way - create an empty layer and brush in color mode with low opacity

Do any one know of a book or course that I can get to learn photo retouching like they do for the magazine. I am using photoshop 7. I am a freelance makeup artist and don't all ways like what the lab do. Is there a plug-in that i can get to help.

          thanks,

          Hello all,

I'm fairly new here but I am working hard at improving my retouching ability. I'm always doing tutorials, practising and I've managed to catch about 4 webinars here already. I've really loved them!

I've been browsing the forums a bit. They are fascinating and...
