  • How to colorgrade like these these photos?

Hey guys I need help with this style of editing.
I’ve searched Paulina Duczman but found nothing.
I’m sure the pros on here will be able to give me some tips to play around with.

Her photos can be found here http://paulinaduczman.com

Thank you very much in advance.

Use adjustment layers and masks. There are like 3 different styles there. In order to show you how to get a specific image to resemble the look of another specific image, you need to show both images. Every file is different.

The colored ones. Most of them have the brownish reddish tint to them.

I've only ever played around with color grading and have no experience. This distinctive style is a combination of 'low key' photography and color grading. The lighting set-up of the photo shoot is probably designed for this style. The tonal range of these low-key photos looks like the attachment.

If I was aiming for a similar style, I would:
        - get the low-key tonal range by using multiple (masked) curves adjustments
        - aim for the right color balance in shadows, mid-tones and highlights using multiple (masked) color balance and/or hue & saturation adjustments
        - add additional (masked) color and tone adjustments for variation in the background and to bring out specific details.

There are plenty of color grading tutorials on the web (I like Phlearn). But there's no real shortcut to learning be doing.

        Hope this helps,

        Mike

So true. It also helps to see the original compared to the final to understand how a specific image was created the first time. What worked for the first image may not work for the second if they were shot under different lighting conditions.

First you prepare for the look before a shoot (props, clothes, make up, etc.). After you can achieve something very similar using only Curves (separated channels for color grading) and monochrome Channel Mixer in Soft Light for a punchier contrast (play with the Opacity and separated colors).
