Please Help (Retouching assistance)

Hello Everyone,

I have been out of the retouch game for quite a while (10 yrs or so) and would love any advice you guys can offer me on how to get back in the game.

For example I am slowly but surely trying to make a list of things that need to be done or should be done to every photo.

Example
1)Fix white balance
2)Color correction
3)Correct Exposure
4)Sharpen

I have been outsourcing my retouch work for a while now and I can't really afford to continue to do so, so I am looking to get back into doing my own photos.

For anyone who is able to offer me any kind of help or advice I would greatly appreciate.

In case it helps I have included a photo that I will be retouching soon and most of the photos look like this SOOC. Thanks so much!

I'm a bit wary of this. WB, exposure, etc., need to be adjusted on some photos, but not every photo. Train yourself to see what any given photo needs, and proceed from there.

As to what a photo needs, that will depend partly on how you use your photos. A snapshot that's going on your smart phone might need a lot less editing than a portrait paid for by a client. Suit the editing to the purpose.

I would also suggest working on the skin with Dodge & Burn and Frequency Separation (with Median) if necessary. Try not to overdo it.
