  • I need help with figuring out travel cases.

I couldn't find any forum or sub forum here that included travel/on-location help, and I am in dire need of some help from any of you nice people.

I am flying.... Southwest to be exact, and I have 3 AlienBee heads, one of which is a RingLight, and I have a giant octobox softbox that fits nicely when folded, and I have 2 stands, and finally the Vagabond II battery pack. I need help from anyone who knows about traveling with On-Location lighting to help me pick a good, relatively cheap travel case that will fit ALL of those things in one. Alienbees doesn't even sell any travel cases that would protect my equipment on the plane.

    Your help/thoughts are all appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Terrence

There are photographers in the Photography forum who probably would have recommendations for you.

Terrence, I think CJ is right, you will likely get more attention in Photography so I am moving the thread over there.

Terrence, there are a number of links in the thread below to photography specific sites where you may find an answer.

If one sits down and adds up all the costs and risk involved with checking such things through airline baggage systems, one might want to consider either shipping the stuff UPS/FedEx. Or perhaps renting like items when you get to the destination. Or even (depending on the distance) just drive there with the stuff in the trunk of your car......

do a search on 'custom cases' and you'll get sites like this one: http://www.customcases.com/
