  • RP LIVE "Calculations 2" with Chris Tarantino

A first for RetouchPRO LIVE, our first "part 2". Chris got so much positive feedback from his first Calculations show, he decided a sequel was warranted to expand and continue on the topics covered in the first show (available on youtube).

    From Chris:
"Calculations can be a bit more manageable when you are going after particular colors in an image, its not just limited to luminosity or density. It is quite possible to select similar colors that are adjacent to each other much more easily than with a painted mask

The selection that I am using is a great example for showing how this is possible. It is also a deceptive image in that it doesn't look like a terribly hard shot to cut out a silhouette to a transparent background. But it can be made easier with calculations.

So we are going to tackle this image by creating masks for the various colors, creating the silo, and learning some of the few definite s that are in Calculations. Definite's meaning they will work on any image."

Evidently some speed-readers are assuming this is a rebroadcast of Chris' first Calculations show. It so very much isn't! Tell your friends and acquaintances on "the other websites" that this is an all-new live show that will be a lot more structured and in-depth than the first show. And the first show is up on youtube for those (in the US) that want a quick review first.

Which is not to say you'd need to have seen part 1 to appreciate this. Plus, as always, Chris will be answering audience questions, just in case something needs to be gone over again.

Re: RP LIVE "Calculations 2" + RAW apps

Thanks for the answer on my Q about RAW processors apps. I do agree with COne but I haven't work ever in 32 bits. What do you normally take into 32 bits to be retouched/corrected/changed? I've been working recently in a photo project shooting interiors with a H2+P45, do you think that this could be the case to get the best results in lighting softness or quality?

On the other hand, I think Calculations is the best for masking but I got some bad integration results afterwards, maybe that blur you did today will help, usually the problem is the light invading the masked area!

                    Regards

Has been a great show - except for one little audio lapse the quality was excellent. The explanations were very understandable (at least for me). And for that price - just great
