  • RetouchPRO LIVE 2015 ideas and requests

I already have some exciting and interesting shows lined up for 2015. Some well-known names have expressed interest in appearing, and I have some format change-ups scheduled.

We now have the ability for users to upload files during the show, and that has proven very effective and useful, but perhaps its not appropriate for every show.

What are some show ideas and requests you might have for 2015? Guest artists? Topics and techniques? With and without audience uploads?

Post your suggestions and requests in this thread.

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE 2015 ideas and requests

Hows about a CGI retouching video? introducing the differences in using cgi elements alongside photographic imagery and the challenges it presents. Would prefer someone with proven experience from an established company, Saddington Baynes, Taylor James, happy finish, Stanley's post, mybrotherbob, etc who can run through some examples.

Other than that a general compositing video would be useful aswell. Most compositing videos I've seen tend to be aimed at photographers so are pretty rough and not to the standard expected at advertising level. Again anyone at the above companies will hopefully be up for it.

The compositing we've covered pretty intensively in various rental videos.

I've wanted to do a CGI show for some time, but could find no likely presenter candidates. Any suggestions?

Well I think independent retouchers don't have the best working practice and the strongest work is always collaborative, so here are a few names from within great companies; Jim Lind, Alex stout, Rainer usselmann, alexis Goodwin

Some interesting googling there. Lots of great stuff, but I couldn't find anything related to CGI. Do you have links to their specific CGI work?

Well they're retouchers, not cgi artists. They don't create cgi elements but composite them with photography and artwork. From what I've seen it seems to be a different way of working and has different considerations from simple photo retouching.

How's about another automotive retouch video? I know there is one in the archive but it'd be interesting to see some more, particularly one that used a car shot for the purpose and from a different Retoucher to get another take on it.

Suggest that you speak to Greg Benz (gregbenzphotography.com). He wrote a program, Lumenzia, dealing with luminosity masks that simplifies the approach used by Tony Kuyper. I use it, and it's great for simplifying really lousy masking jobs.

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE 2015 ideas and requests

                    Thanks for the input.

Mixer brush and Lab are already in the works.

Bridge and calculations have already been done, though they're in the rental area (but then again they are also incredibly in-depth).

Pet retouch might be fun, and I actually have a couple of presenter ideas that might be a good match. Let's see if we get many upvotes for this idea.

I've added the others to my list of potential ideas (ie: can I find a good presenter for them).
