Excellent tutorial Jak. Alot of people can get great benefits from learning to master the airbrush tool in restoration work. Very nicely presented and easy to understand and follow. You're getting to be quite the pro at these tuts. All the better for us.

Very good tutorial Jak. I've been practicing with the airbrush lately and it's become my favorite tool to use. I find I have more control than with the clone tool (although there are times when only the clone tool will do)

      Keep up the good work,
      Margaret

Great tutorial Jak. The texture in Benny's suit is excellent. I'm sure you used a special brush for this but I haven't been able to duplicate it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nope - no special brushes. The only brushes I used were the regular ones shown on the palette in the tutorial. I varied the size of the brushes depending on the space I was working on, but really it was just mostly a soft round regular brush...

I was just looking at the tut again to see what you were seeing.

I think what you might be noticing is the texture that was there in the first place. Because I used my brush at a very low opacity, the original texture is there and showing through, but has just been softened by the painting I did on top of it.

                      I think you're right Jak.

I've tried your technique on Benny and although I can make him look quite a bit better, I've got a log way to go.
                      More practice I guess.

                        airbrushing

An excellent tutorial on airbrushing. I've had to resort to digital airbrushing many, many, times, and I could still use more practice.
one thing I'd like to mention that has helped me out when airbrushing (on a separate layer, of course) is to add a small amount of monochrome noise, and to blur it slightly.

This tutorial has made me resolve to set aside time to practice, because it is important to know how to do well.

                              Airbrushing

Sometimes, when retouching an image, no matter what you try there is no fix that seems to work well - or at all. It's frustrating. At that point, I usually resort to an old standard: Airbrushing. [details]
