what's not to love about the pen? for me, one thing only; wheras with the mouse in clone mode i had no trouble just "touching", you know, one click with it for one spot/shot; but with the pen, it seems that nothing happens with one click, I have to drag at least a little bit and that gives a different and often undesired effect. I have been back to my original settngs and made them soft as could be.
one other question; (i have ps5.5) ; if you have your layer blending mode set to, say, lighten, should you set your tool of choice to the same mode?

You don't say which pen you use, but I suspect you need to either turn on pressure sensitivity, or turn it up if you already have it activated.
If you're using a Wacom pen, check for the recently released driver update on their website (www.wacom.com).
You say "click", I assume you mean when you just touch the pen to the tablet? Once you've activated or turned up pressure, try simply pressing down instead of moving it.
As for blending modes, I'd keep my tools set to 'normal', though I'm sure some interesting (but perhaps too complicated to predict) effects could be had by combining.

thanks, doug; it is a wacom, and i did have the sensitivity as low as i could get it. I think i just don't quite have the feel of the pen for the click (just touch pen to tablet) hopefully practice will improve me : )
