  • Practical book for portrait/general retouching?

I'm looking for a good practical book on retouching with the emphasis on practical.
I know how to use Photoshop and Lightroom (no, I'm by no means an expert and still have pleny to learn) meaning I know how to use the software but I don't have much experience in how to practically apply it for improving photos. I could need a good book on the subject of general retouching/editing portraits, people and general photography (a little bit of everything).

Are any of the following books what I might be looking for?
    1. Skin by Lee Varis
    2. Professional Portrait Retouching Techniques for Photographers Using Photoshop by Scott Kelby (obviously not covering Lightroom though).

My first post here, looking forward to learning and sharing my knowledge: one book I have now that has been very helpful, Photoshop Restoration & Retouching, by Katrin Eismann, a few years old but I find I still refer to it when needed. Another is Ctein's Digital Restoration from Start to Finish: How to repair old and damaged photographs, this book came highly recommended to me from the LinkedIn forum and I plan to buy it this week in fact!

Too many words, not enough pictures.

thanks, i don't do sign-ups. not that i'm your intended audience, but i doubt i'm alone in that sentiment. why make it difficult to see what you offer?

Katrin Eismann book on retouching and restoration. When I bought the book. Reading the first 4 chapters (chapters 1-4) I was not too impressed with it. Being a deciple of high end color books and using only curves for color correction and contrast moves for color and b&w. Nevertheless the book (chapters...
