Stewart - do you specifically mean 'scripting' as introduced in v7 (JS, AS, VB)...
Or are you using the term script in a more general way, in regards to actions?

If you have the ability to program in either Visual Basic or Javascript, it's a matter of incorporating the Photoshop-specific objects into the program (script).
Disclaimer: I know "of this" because I've done a little VB programming myself, but have not gotten into PS scripting specifically.

Don't know whether this is old or new news ... but I found a site that has Photoshop Tutorials - including one about scripting.
I doubt if I'll ever get into that techie stuff - but perhaps someone else will benefit from it.

i understand nothing about script
but is there a way to record a script?
i mean like an action
for example click and select a tool , the hand tool , and let photoshop write the script (that have the command to select the hand tool)

I came to RetouchPro by following a link from Adobe Forums which said, "There is an excellent script available for Photoshop which allows you to not only replace words in layer names, but also insert words as Prefixes, Suffixes and Sequential Numbers." Does anyone else think that PS Scripting should be so much more popular than it seems to be? Maybe because it's a new idea in Photoshop, but scripts could be so powerful, yet no one seems to be taking advantage of them.
