  • Free Color Deconvolution plugin

This is designed for forensics, but there must be some use for it in removing stains, etc. Give it a try and report back.

Windows only and some registration hoops to jump through, but it's a free and useful plug-in! I'm off to get it... Thanks for the heads-up!

      Re: Free Color Deconvolution plugin

I have a personal filter that is very similiar. Very handy for making those kinds of difficult selections. One use that kind of surprised me was making difficult fleshtone selections when rim-lighting was way over done.

Apparently, donations can be refused. The site should have a discaimer stipulating required donation amounts.

Doug Nelson: Frankly speaking, i tried it to remove stains, it did work but the results were not up to the mark, as it left few points as it is. Anyhow, its better than what i have been using in the past. Still, thanks!

                UPDATE: Free Color Deconvolution plugin

The mentioned color deconvolution plug-in is from 4N6site.com.
Previous posts contain outdated links, but the plug-in is available through 4N6site.com.
Indeed it works very well for removing stains. You can also contact the site if you want to be absolutely sure you get the maximum out of the plug-in!

I don't understand this. It's free but it forces you to donate so you could unlock its full features?

Re: Color Deconvolution plugin now donationware

Things have changed since 2007; it is donationware now. The try-out version just lets you toy with deconvolution in the preview. If you are not sure the plug-in is the solution for your problem (or whether you used it optimally) you can also contact 4N6site.com and have them demonstrate it on your image.
