Re: 101 Photoshop Tips in Five Minutes Deke McClel
Thanks for the link, Danny! I love Deke's regular training videos, but I'm with Swampy about getting dizzy watching this one -- I did persevere and replayed it bit by bit to see what the shortcuts were - I use a bunch of shortcuts, but only a small number compared to all of these. I'm going to try to add some more to my repertoire, but I don't think I'll ever know 101 of them, and I couldn't (and wouldn't) rap-sing them if I knew them. I hope this isn't going to be his new teaching method!
Re: 101 Photoshop Tips in Five Minutes Deke McClel
I don't think you're supposed to actually learn from the video. It's just a funny take on a Photoshop guy in a manic state rapping and singing about shortcuts and Photoshop. Just the idea- learn Photoshop in 5 minutes is absurd and funny. I showed it to people who don't even use Photoshop and they thought it was funny. Especially things like sputtering out a 6 key shortcut combination and his body movements.
It's sort of a hyper parody on "Learn Photoshop in 24 hours".
The song was very catchy also.
Self indulgent IMO. Like Swampy, I stopped watching it.
For those who have never seen him teach in person or watched his video tutorials, this could definitely come across as self indulgent and pretty useless.
I should have put more emphasis on "entertainment" by noting the intent was a tongue-in-cheek/poke fun at himself ("Deke being Deke") production.
When you know as much about Photoshop as he does and have published as many books (he was the original author of the Photoshop Bible books 5.0 - CS), tutorials, video tutorials as he has, maybe you get a little bord - like Madonna, Elton John and other artists do music-wise.
For an in-depth summry of Photoshop shortcuts in .pdf format Google:
For any one who has not used itunes and podcats, may I reccomend you go and try it, there are several free photoshop related podcasts available (video) and they are very useful. Russell Brown has a set "the russell brown show" and he covered last week extreme masks, I knew and used 75 - 80%...
I'm very pleased with some video tips/tutorial resources offered by The Radiant Vista (http://www.radiantvista.com/ ) for both Photoshop and photography. I've listed some links in the Photography Forum, and now want to share some retouching tip links here. (I submitted a link to our new library.) ...
