    EFI is offering an alternative.

Here in Germany, almost every retouching studio I know is using GMG.
The same with labs offering contractproofs.

While GMG still runs on Windows only, EFI runs on Mac also.

    I owned 50% of a 4900 spectroproofer/GMG colorProof Inline.
    Worked flawless.
First I did not like the fact GMG runs on Windows.
But that did not matter too much, as I prefer to have the proof system seperate and reduced to the proofsoftware.

Colorburst on a 4900 is the stuff of nightmares. My studio just switched to GMG from colorburst, and its way way better. EFI isn't a ton cheaper than GMG from what I remember.

Yes there is, but the standard world wide is GmG.

            Windows vs Apple
            by skydog
I need to upgrade my computer. I currently use Windows XP. Over the years I've been told that Apple is the way to go for those who are into photography, video, graphic design, etc. Is this still true? Is there still a strong differential between an Apple and the Windows format?

I guess I should chronicle my switch from windows to Mac here.

Why a Mac? DH was behind on a 50th birthday present and a 30th wedding anniversary present and the local shop ran an amazing 3 day sale. So he told me it was now or never. They were clearing things out for an end January inventory...

Advice on computers - what do I need
            by Elya
            Hi All,
I maybe have a naive question but whoever I asked couldn't answer it, even sales reps at Apple. All I know about Mac is that it's RAM, speed, a chip made by Adobe and a much better operations system that won't crash. Which one would be the best for restoration? Do I really need a Mac?...

            PC Vs MAC ?

OK this thread is a kind of spin off from this one http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/sho...?t=9439&page=2 , but how many people use Macs and how many use PC's ?

For those of you that have made the switch from PC to Mac, how long did it take you to get to grips with the OS and...
