  • Trimoon's Rust Brush Preset

Hi all, I haven't been around for quite a while, but I have been "relearning" a lot of things by reading the posts from all you very talented people. I recently downloaded Trimoon's Rust Brush Preset, but ran into a problem trying to install them. I expected a ".abr" file, but it was a ".tpl" file. I corresponded with Danny Raphael a couple of times, and finally figured it out. He suggested that I post my findings here, in case others were having the same problem. Soooo, after that rather long-winded into, here it is:

How to load a Tool Preset.

The are a couple of ways to load a Tool Preset. You can use the Preset Manager found under the Edit menu or you can use the Tool Presets palette.

To load the .tpl file from the Preset Manager go to Edit - Preset Manager and then at the top of the dialog box click-drag to select Tools. Then click on the Load button and navigate to the location where you saved the .tpl file. Click to highlight the .tpl file and click Load. Finally click Done to close the Preset Manager dialog box.

To load the .tpl file from the Tool Presets palette go to Window - Tool Presets. Click the arrow in the upper right corner of the Tool Presets palette to open the drop-down menu and click on Load Tool Presets...

You can also click on the icon on the far left of the Tool Bar. This will open a drop-down menu of loaded presets. Click the arrow in the upper right corner of the drop-down palette to open the drop-down menu and click on Load Tool Presets...

How to use a Tool Preset.

Once a Tool Preset is loaded you can access it from a number of locations. If you have the Tool Preset palette open just click on the desired preset to make it active. You can also click on the icon on the far left of the Tool Bar. This will open a drop-down menu of loaded presets. Click on the desired preset to make it active. Once you have activated the preset it is ready to use."

    Hope this is helpful>

Setting up a smudge tool preset.
      by Canna W
      Hi,

With some help from Palms I have tracked down a preset for the smudge tool that I really wanted. I downloaded it from a website, and it is now sitting on my desktop as a .tpl file. I am not sure what I have to do to set it up, and would be grateful for some help.

      Photoshop tpl and abr files
      by raniday
When I download preset files into Adobe PhotoShop, the brushes (abr) go into the brushes folder, and they're easily accessible. My question is about those tlp files. Some of them say they are brushes, too, but once they're loaded into their own tools folder, I don't know how to access them. If they're...

      Icon switcher
      by Doug Nelson
I'm looking for a utility that will allow me to change which icon Windows shows for documents of a given app. So I could have Mickey Mouse for all my PSD files instead of the Adobe feather

Please help-change the Pen Tool in PS CS
      by DebbyAbrahams
I've had this post over on the Adobe website for two weeks, but no one has answered, so if anyone in this intelligent, responsive news group can help, please let me know

The following is how the Pen Tool works in Photoshop 4, and what I wish to duplicate in Photoshop CS.
