You do not have to accept LR opening and injesting images automatically. You can turn this feature off (Preferences) and set up your folder and then ask LR to import to catalogue when ready after pointing to your new image folder in the LR dialogue.
I also learned how to direct LR on where to put the ones I have been working on.
Not clear what you mean here as your worked on images remain where they started and only a new instruction set is saved - a very small fext file either within the LR catalogue database or additionally as an xmp file

Your current original file remains untapped and in the same location through which it started.

What is saved is a set of instructions describing your editing process. This is saved in the catalogue and if you have ticked the option as a sidecar file

When you work on an image, I am told that Lightroom automatically saves the work. WHERE TO? HOW DO YOU FIND SOMETHING it has saved, and pigeonholed somewhere?

    saving work in Lightroom

How do you save work in Lightroom, other than to export the file? I don't see but one "done" button, which goes away after just one adjustment. I am used to being able to save a work as I go along, but I don't see how its done in the develop mode. Ideas? Thanks!

When I have finished working on a group of pictures, this software has me export them, right? In the export box, I see no options for file type, jpg, tiff, etc. IS THERE A WAY TO EXPORT THEM AS THE FILE TYPE OF MY CHOICE? Where is that? Thanks!

    Hello,

I use photoshop and lightroom too. Usually I do changes in lightroom and export the file to edit in PS. My photoshop, monitor and lightroom are calibrated to Adobe rgb 1998.
The problem is the export option. I use the "Original" file option and with this I can still...

I recently downloaded the Lightroom trial, and I have to admit, i am impressed. I figurd out a work flow that worked for me in a matter of a couple of hours.

Here is my problem. I worked on my RAW photos, made crops, adjustments, etc and exported to JPEGS to post, no issues. I closed...

Anybody here know some simple tasks with Lightroom, like making a picture go away (delete) after it has been imported? Who knows a good tutorial source on it? Thanks!
