  • Photoshop: Developing Mac Photoshop 64 bit FFT / IFFT plugins

    Hi,

I developed freely available CS3-based Mac PS FFT/IFFT plugins a few years back as outlined here:
    http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/sof...lugin-mac.html

Fabio Fata graciously developed a video tutorial on how to use it, available here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUqsm9_iCbQ

I have been asked to develop a 64-bit version of that plugin that works in newer versions of Photoshop. I'm not opposed to the effort. However, I see that over the years several solutions, including non-PS based, have appeared for a 64-bit FFT/IFFTs plugin. There is no point in doing this effort if there is no demand for it. So I'm just gauging interest in the 64-bit version of Photoshop CC FFT/IFFT plugins based on the older 32-bit plugins. If there is still demand for this plugin to be updated to 64-bits I can do the work.

    EDIT:

FFT / IFFT plugins now available for general download. Please use the following link:

djjoofa.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, djjoofa.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

I have also added a link to John Wheeler's technique for removing edge banding in Photoshop using 'content aware fill'.

    Sincerely,

    Joofa

You'd greatly increase the demand by making it for both Mac and Windows.

Thanks for your note. However, it appears that a Windows version is already available as the following links says:

Re: Developing Mac Photoshop 64 bit FFT / IFFT plu

          Hi Joofa

I can pretty much guarantee that there would be high interest by Mac Photoshop users. There is a multi-year history having a solution for a Windows based PS and not for a Mac based PS implementation on every forum in which I participate. So there is pent up demand on the Mac side.

I agree with Doug that a Windows solution as well would have a positive impact on total demand. I suggest if it cannot be coded for both a the same time, is to start with the Mac solution (you would have a corner on the market) and add the Windows support following up.

Just some quick thoughts and thanks in advance if you take on the project. I would readily use such a plugin.

            Hi John W.,

Thanks for your reply. The Mac users will not starve any more. I shall provide a Mac-based FFT / IFFT solution soon. At the moment it shall target CC (2015), OS 10.10+. To answer Doug's question, when the Mac based solution is available and in case there is some demand for it, then I shall also provide a corresponding Windows-based solution. The Windows users have a lot of options, as you say, so they don't need it right now, in any case.

            Sincerely,

            Joofa

As God is my witness, no Mac PS user will ever be hungry again.

I have been working on these plugins for some time before I posted here. I have updated the info and download link at my website. They shall be available soon.

Mac Photoshop FFT / IFFT 64-bit Plugins for CC 2015 (OS 10.9+) are available now. They are free. However, donations are welcome. We are redesigning the main website so at this stage those who want to have an early version can contact me directly.

Once the website is done the main download link shall be posted here.

                    Thank you Dj Joofa.

I obtained the early version of your FFT Plugin and I am very pleased and will be sending an optional donation. I am using a MacBook Pro (2015), Mac OSX 10.10.5, with Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.

Here is an example run of the Filter using an image of me many decades ago with the original on top and the post filtered image below. (Best viewed at 200% to see the results).

I am still experimenting with the filter so these are only early results. Very very pleased so far.

For those that want an early version for you Mac, you can contact Dj Joofa at [email protected]

Re: Developing Mac Photoshop 64 bit FFT / IFFT plu

Thank you John for your feedbak.

There is another version of these plugins (namely FFT_C / IFFT_C) also availabe that has a cleaner 'edge banding' response compared to the current release candidate FFT / IFFT. Please see the 'Comparison' section in this link:

                      http://djjoofa.com/download/fft_mac_ps_cc_2015

However, the '_C' version would require me purchasing a commercial license for distribution of the code for a piece of 3rd party stuff that those plugins use. I intend to make the '_C' version free also, just like the currently released version. Therefore, if there is enough interest in the current version, and sufficient voluntary donations contribution, the '_C' version will be released in due time.

Big thumbs up for Dj Joofa on providing the FFT Plugin for Macs with PS CC2015. I have used his FFT Plugin on several images and quite please with the repeated pattern removal.

The edge anomaly reduction technique involves a simple Content Aware procedure and the details are in the link on Joofa's web site.

Here are the results in three steps on this example image (same one I used before). The three images are a) the original b) With just using the FFT c) with some ACR adjustments (I could have done a better job with these adjustments).

Very happy to have this tool in my Mac tool box for Photoshop!

                            Hi,

I downloaded the Joofa plugin and whenever I try to register the product, I get an error message saying, "Unable to talk to server." I've tried contacting Joofa directly but have never received a response.

Does anyone have an alternative plugin that they'd recommend or a way around this registration process?

                              I've exactly the same problem.

I've noticed that the older FFT plugins for Mac's version of Photoshop are no longer available on the sites that used to provide them. Does anyone have a copy of the plug-in that they would be willing to share? I have CS3, so it needs to be CS3-compatible....

I recently watched some videos at YouTube using an FFT filter to remove the texture effect on older printed photographs. I've not been able to find the FFT filter for Mac. Can someone steer me in the right direction?

I've just joined, and I want to learn how to retouch old photos of my Dads. Firstly, I can't find anywhere the download button for the FFT plugin for Photoshop! I use a macbook air. Can anyone point me in the right direction to start downloading the plugin please.

                                Hi,

I saw some comments regarding FFT plugin for Mac Photoshop. I have been using my own Photoshop FFT plugin for some stuff. I am making that freely and publicly available. Please visit http://djjoofa.com/download to download it.

At this stage it is only CS3, Mac OS 10.6.8....

I have modified Alex Chirikov's FFT routines to run in 64 bit Photoshop, and process 16 bit images. The software may be downloaded from:
                                http://www.rognemedia.no/diverse/FFT.zip

I make no promises, but would appreciate feedback.

You can process either 8 or 16 bit images...
