Plug-In: FFT returns mostly transparent image

Hi guys,
I just found out about this forum and it looks like it's exactly what I was looking for.
While trying to recover an old half-tone image, I got it to look half decent and then hit a wall in the shape of a pattern all across the image.
I heard about FFT years ago but it's the first time I ever needed to actually try it out.
I followed the instructions. made sure to keep in mind the size limitations, but no matter what I do, I always end up with a mostly transparent image.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Using the latest Photoshop CC on a Win 10 machine.

You must first make sure that you are working on a flattened image no other layers. Right click over layer and select Flatten. You should now have just one layer with the name Background. Work on this and you should be good to go

I had exactly the same problem.
It turns out that it does indeed work pretty well when applying it on the background. But I had no problems having other layers above it in the image, like the original which I applies with Color mode.
Works great :-)
Had to edit the red channel though, and not the green, as said other places.
And I did get some faint horizontal lines at the top and bottom.
I also found that it is a good idea to do any clone/patch retouching before removing the paper texture...
