  • PS browser question

I have both PS 7 and PSE 2 and whenever I use the browser if I select more than one file to open the program will only open the first one I selected. Is there a simple setting I have missed? Also, if I don't close that file I cannot open any more files until I do close it. This doesn't seem right. What am I missing?

First of all, welcome to RP. I have a feeling you'll like it here. I guess I never tried to open more than one file at a time, and I don't know if you should be able to do that or not. But you certainly should be able to have more than one image open at a time. My guess would be that you might need to delete your preferences file. When you restart Photoshop, a new one will be created. A bad preference file gets the blame for some wierd behavior from Photoshop. Good luck.

Mimiya, I'd never used the File browser that way, but just to check how it would work, I selected two image files and both opened successfully, one after the other. So try restoring your preferences to their defaults. Here's Stephen Marsh's instructions for that process: restore preferences to defaults

How much memory does your computer have? It takes a good deal of memory to open two or more large files. What happens when you use the menu to open more than one file: (File-->Open ) -- any differences?

When I use file-open I can open several files at a time that's why this seemed so strange. I will try to reset the preferences.....

            Ed, you did it again!

Yeah, Ed, thanks! I learned something also.

Is there any way to open the internal file browser by scripting? JS or VB.
I hate to open it f.e. in VB with a commondialog or in JS with the File
object..... i want the internal file browser to open........

Photoshop: Cann't get it to open .JPG extension fr
              by dextermccall
When I double click on a .JPG file it will not open by Photoshop. It wants to use viewer.exe. I went as far as trashing viewer.exe. I have tried to change the View-->Folder-->options-->File Type. and I get a message: The extension '.JPG' is already in use by file type 'ViewerFrameClass'....

              file browser
              by memphishooter
I have PS7 in a new machine, with Windows, giving me 16 x 9 screen. Thing is, I like to bring files into PS7, set em up in file browser and batch rename, so the files are sequential, and the file #'s are only two digits long. I can't find the triangle that I used to see when I had this exact same program...

Error message: "drawing file is not valid"
              by thibcorm
I'm using version 2004. A friend sent me two files (generated by someone other than him).
When I tried to open the files in version 04 (which is what I use)... I've got the same error message (drawing file is not valid).

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

              File Association Editor (Open With)
              by Doug Nelson
I'm looking for a Windows utility that can edit what shows up under Open With when you rightclick on a document. Something easier to use than the NirSoft app.
