  • photoshop profiles going wild

I have calibrated my monitor with Colorvision Spyder (Optical). Because of that, Adobe Gamma is de-installed. Until last week everything worked fine. My system was using Adobe RGB 1998 as it's working space.

Now all images being loaded into Photoshop or Photoshop Elements show a severe color cast on screen.
It doesn't make any difference which profile I select in Color Settings. Adobe RGB, sRGB or Color Match all show a severe color cast. When the images are loaded into viewers outside of the Photoshop environment (for instance ACDSee), all the images appear normal on screen.

Only when I turn color management off, the images in the browser and those loaded into Photoshop appear normal.

Does anyone have a clue what has happened to my system?

Have you checked the "Advanced" color settings in photoshop? Perhaps you have it set to automatically convert images to some other profile when opening.

Thank you Vikki, but I checked that one.

The default setting is that embedded profiles should be preserved.

        Color Space conversions
        by Reimar
I have signed on with a stock photo agency that wants images converted to AdobeRGB. My Nikon produces an untagged RGB image that is ostensibly sRGB. I use no color management in PE1, I have a calibrated monitor (eye-one) and my prints at home are (nearly) perfect. But if I convert my untagged images...

        Photoshop Color Settings
        by santoro80
Some books/videos about Color Management and Photoshop are telling that you should set sRGB in default color settings of your Photoshop working space (because then Photoshop can automatically assign sRGB profile to untagged images which is perefered). However, somebody is saying that in default PS color...

        ICC embedded
        by Reimar
I just switched from PE 1 to PE2. I am using a Nikon D70. Now I notice that whenever I want to "save as" a TIFF file when I'm finished my edits, the check box for ICC Profle is checked and some sRGB file is being embedded. Is this a good idea? Do I need to uncheck this box every time I...
