  • Installing Actions in Photoshop Elements 6

I am relatively new to Photoshop Elements and have just purchased version 6. I have downloaded an atn file to install but cannot find any instructions on how to install this action in the program. All instructions that I have found relate to older version of Photoshop. I am running Vista.

Can anyone help with instructions or a link?

Send me an email, I have an action set that works...and you can use it to figure out what is going on.

Can someone please tell me how to install actions in element 7 for mac? I've just tried to do it, but i had to reinstall it because everything went wrong. I don't know how to install actions, so it would be very very nice if someone could learn me how!

Thank you for sending me the link, but i didn't make it. I followed your instructions correctly, but i didn't get my actions in Elements. If you take a look at the attachments, both my ThumbDatabase.db3 and MediaDatabase.db3 were looking like that after rebuilding. I don't understand what else i can do or what i've done wrong. I've followed your instructions twice, but i can't make it anyway...

Do you know anything about why I get this kind of problem?

I can assure you that if you followed the instructions correctly the actions would show up in Elements. I use those instructions myself to install far more than a single action. You might try installing my free tools as if you can't get those in, you are surely doing something erroneously. No matter how many times someone tells me they must be wrong and I follow the solution to a conclusion it is always that some mistake is made in following them. If there were more to it, I'd add it to the instructions...but they are all there.

Please try it again. Take your time.

Ok. Now i actually made it, but i am still wondering why my ThumbDatabase.db3 and MediaDatabase.db3 are looking like the picture I put in my last message. Why are they just looking like white "papers" instead of the attachment in this message.

And one more thing: I had a action SET, with 3 or 4 actions in the set, but i only got one of this actions instead of the whole set when i put it in Elements.

I am really sorry about my bad english. Hope you understand me anyway.

First, glad you got everything working.

i am still wondering why my ThumbDatabase.db3 and MediaDatabase.db3 are looking like the picture I put in my last message. Why are they just looking like white "papers" instead of the attachment in this message.
I would assume due to file associations, but quite honestly I'm not sure. In any case what the icon looks like should not matter to the function.

I had a action SET, with 3 or 4 actions in the set, but i only got one of this actions instead of the whole set when i put it in Elements.
Separate actions in a set will need to be split out into separate action sets. That should be a stipulation included in the instructions.

I am really sorry about my bad English.
                Seems just fine to me!

Re: Installing Actions in Photoshop Elements 6

                    From the page:
Actions can be any .atn file created with Photoshop (best if created with CS4, as it will have the most compatible commands) or downloaded from the internet. Be aware that actions you create or download may need to be altered to perform as expected in Elements. To alter actions you will need to use Photoshop

OK. So the point is: I can't use action SETS if i just have elements?

Re: Installing Actions in Photoshop Elements 6

Each action needs to be saved in an exclusive Set. The hierarchy of actions in Photoshop requires all actions to be in a set. You can store several actions in a Photoshop Set, but Elements can only see the first action in the sets.

You can edit them in photoshop to separate them.
